Closeup of the curly end of my new banana leaf.
My banana tree has a new leaf coming up with a lovely curl on top. Banana leaves grow one at a time from the center of the previous leaf and are tightly rolled before they unfurl when reaching full height. The slow progression is nice to observe and my inner designer loves the geometric and rhythmic growth pattern of this tree. Check out my other posts about banana plants. They’re easy to grow indoors with lots of sunshine and lots of water. Banana trees can get huge if periodically replanted in larger pots.

My young Golden Lotus banana tree enjoys a sunny windowsill. This plant is also commonly referred to as a Chinese Yellow banana and takes several years to make a very cool looking yellow flower before it dies.
